Previous BBC Consultants Undergo Members of Parliament's Inquiry Following Allegations of Bias in Leaked Memorandum
We start with queries from Tory Member of Parliament the panel's head, who chairs the panel.
She opens by offering context to the leaked memorandum authored by Michael Prescott and printed in the Telegraph.
"It is not my wish for the BBC slanting toward one side or the other, My only wish is for it balanced, fair and fair," he says.
When asked whether he thinks the British Broadcasting Corporation is systematically partial, Prescott replies: "No I don't. Let's be clear, a great deal the BBC produces is world class - encompassing factual and entertainment shows."
Nevertheless, he states: "There is significant effort that needs to be done at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
The second ex-adviser BBC specialist interviewed by the committee, Caroline Daniel, states she views the BBC very seriously and that it has a "ongoing system and lively discussion" regarding dynamic and complex issues.
"Did the BBC willing to have a genuine discussion and argument and act accordingly?" she questions. "From my perspective, affirmative, they were."
