Salah Offers Apology to Liverpool Dressing Room, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has revealed that Mohamed Salah apologised to the entire Liverpool squad after the controversy from his televised remarks.
What Happened
He was omitted from a key Champions League match after criticising the club and suggesting his relationship with manager had broken down.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has refused to comment publicly on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction stayed normal. “Nothing about him changed, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” the midfielder explained.
Jones also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “It's clear there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just be on the bench, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
Their results have been impressive in the matches since the situation. He feels the outburst were not intended to cause disruption.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a good place,” Jones concluded. “It's behind us and we’re building chemistry, playing well and on a positive run.”
