Starting XI

Dean Henderson Was rarely tested required in the first half before tested by Arbër Hoxha’s curled attempt. His sliding challenge against an Albanian attacker showed sharp anticipation. 6/10

Jarell Quansah Examined against the opposition's biggest threat in Hoxha. Started more centrally initially later drifted wider after Saka was introduced. 7/10

The defender Pushed forward with the ball at his feet, something he's known for previously. Sometimes lacked urgency when carrying play and the experiment was shelved after the break. Six

The tall defender A constant threat at set pieces, as always, perhaps is an alternative to Stones at the back instead of alongside him. A loose distribution later in the match nearly resulted in the first goal from the visitors. Six

The young full-back Another confident showing by the rising star following his first cap against Serbia. Saka failed to make the opportunity from a clever flick over the Albania defence. The role looks secure at this stage. 7

Adam Wharton His maiden beginning for his country. Slightly careless in possession however his dangerous deliveries were a threat. An effective tempo-setter available to the coach to utilize against teams who drop deep. Shown a yellow for a rash tackle. 6/10

Declan Rice Set-pieces on corner kicks and free kicks created chances. Was given license to roam in left midfield but was in an offside position when the ball arrived in shooting positions. Granted a deserved substitution around the 60-minute point. 6/10

Jude Bellingham Functioned in an advanced spot down the right while also did plenty of dirty work. Displayed glimpses of brilliance but mishit an effort wide. Replaced late on for a teammate, his competition, after being booked. 7

Jarrod Bowen Had the team's top opening in the opening period, his shot excellently kept out by the Albanian keeper. With Quansah hanging back, he had to stretch the play out wide but his crosses into the box were hit and miss. Taken off with 15 to go. 6/10

The captain The difference-maker with his seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth goals at international level. His first a classic opportunist's goal and his next a superb finish with his head following a clever run from his marker. At 32, his form is unwavering and the side have every chance in future competitions with him leading the line. 8

Eberechi Eze Struggled to get into the game out wide. Was presented with a decent opportunity when set up from a teammate yet Strakosha denied him. His replacement made much more of an impact after coming on. 5/10
