The Streaming Giant Selects Perfect Star for Bentham in One Piece Upcoming Installment

Baroque Works is geared up to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the true confrontation won’t unfold until season 3, and a beloved, popular member has now been chosen.

The platform declared recently that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will embody Bon Clay. This character possesses the power to morph into an identical duplicate of any person they’ve touched with their main hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and goes by they/them, will portray a version of that role reinterpreted as non-binary identifying, instead of as a drag queen, in the real-life adaptation, as in the source material and animated series.

This performer joins multiple fresh additions who will portray the organization to reality, including leader the main antagonist, played by Joe Manganiello, a talented actress as Miss Goldenweek, and a familiar face, who also joins the ensemble as King Nefertari Cobra of the fictional land.

Though Bon Clay is a key figure of the group, the character won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. With the next season likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this represents a significant shift in the placement of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could indicate more adjustments to the narrative framework.

Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and emotional depth makes them a perfect fit for the role. Besides their recent voice performance in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and several accolades for writing and starring in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, highlighting the adaptability they’ll add to one of One Piece’s most celebrated characters.

Netflix's live-action One Piece show is set to return for its second season on the tenth of March, 2026.
